Alderman Martin said: “Our thanks go to all the emergency services who responded to today’s incident which took place on a busy Saturday afternoon in Lisburn.
“The object was not only located right in the middle of an always busy city centre area but adjacent to many people’s homes.
“It couldn’t have happened in a more inconvenient place resulting in the closure of an underground commercial car park and significantly impacting on traders around Lisburn today, but when all said and done we’re just very grateful to the police and bomb squad for their considerable efforts in attempting to keeping the public informed whilst ensuring everyone’s safety.”
