Naomi Long accompanied by special canvasser
Naomi Long has had a special guest on her latest canvass around the streets of East Belfast.
Chaz the guide dog, alongside owner Elaine Orwin, accompanied East Belfast Alliance candidate Mrs Long while she knocked doors around Belmont Church Road yesterday (Tuesday).
Mrs Long said the canvass was a good opportunity to showcase the importance of guide dogs.
“Blind people or those who are partially sighted contribute just as much to our society as everyone else,” she said.
“I was glad to have Elaine and Chaz come with me to show that in person. Elaine was enthusiastic and loved speaking to people on the doorsteps to encourage to help in the campaign. Chaz might have won Alliance a few more votes as well.
“Chaz is a lovely dog, very friendly and I’m pleased we had a chance to show how life-changing guide dogs can be.”
Elaine said Chaz had fully enjoyed himself on his night in East Belfast.
“I was delighted to help Naomi on her canvass, as was Chaz. He has met Naomi on a number of occasions and was really happy to see his friend again.”
