Speaking on National Voting Registration day, she confirmed anyone living in GB can complete this process online via Gov.net, while in Northern Ireland residents must download a form and then post the application.
She said: “One way to enable people to vote to make change is to remove barriers to voter registration. It’s time the people of Northern Ireland were afforded the same options as available in the rest of the U.K.
“I am stepping forward in this election to ensure the people of Northern Ireland are treated fairly and equitably. Voter registration alignment is only one of the ways we can ensure our country is moving forward and staying apace with the rest of the UK.”
