Dixon condemns Portadown unrest

Alliance Craigavon Councillor Conrad Dixon has condemned trouble which took place in Portadown on Monday night. Up to eight petrol bombs were thrown during the violence between rival groups of young people on the Garvaghy Road. The Police, clergy and local community leaders helped end the unrest.

Cllr Conrad Dixon said: “There can be no justification for the violence that took place in Portadown on Monday. It is completely unacceptable behaviour which should be condemned by everyone.

“I would appeal for calm in the area and call on people not to get involved in such violence.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this unrest to contact the Police.”
