Lo says we must take action to stop hate crimes

Alliance South Belfast MLA, Anna Lo, has condemned two hate crimes in which graffiti was painted on houses on Tavanagh Street and Broadway in South Belfast on Saturday.

Anna Lo MLA said: “I am appalled that two more hate crimes have taken place in Belfast. These attacks must stop. Racism has no place in our society. We must seek to challenge the views of those responsible and work with the Police and other agencies to prevent future incidents.

“It is vital that the First and deputy First Ministers publish the long awaited racial equality strategy and provide funding to groups and projects that promote integration and work to bring down the barriers in our society.

“I would again like to give my full support to all those who have been a victim of these racist attacks.

“Those responsible must be urgently apprehended by the Police, so I would urge anybody with any information about these attacks to contact the Police.”
