Stewart Dickson MLA said: “I am completely astounded that a man who claims to be committed to moving Northern Ireland forward, who is a prominent member of the Sinn Fein Haass delegation, could actively praise and commemorate those involved in the violent Maze prison break.
“This comment made via Twitter is both shameful and sickening and a blatant attempt to glorify terrorist activities of the past.
“I am appalled that an elected representative has sought to make light of a situation that would have caused pain to many. There is absolutely no room for sectarianism and tribal divisions in Northern Ireland politics.
“Gerry Kelly should remove the offensive tweet immediately and apologise to the many he has offended.”
