Trevor Lunn MLA said: “There is an urgent need for the Education Minister to quickly resolve this dispute. It is a very strange situation for pupils to have been locked out of their own school.
“My understanding is that the school has planning permission and building control approval for the new units and obviously the agreement of the Belfast Board for the work to proceed. What appears to be missing is the provision of a lease which was promised by the Belfast Board in May and if this is the case, it is totally unacceptable and irresponsible to disrupt children’s education in this way.
“I am also concerned that these buildings contained facilities for pupils with special needs who could be adversely affected by the temporary arrangements until a resolution is found.”
