McCarthy alarmed by Northern Trust’s attempts to make care homes unsustainable

Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed his alarm after it was claimed that the Northern Trust is attempting to limit admissions to care homes to make them unsustainable to keep open.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “I am deeply alarmed that the Northern Trust is using underhand tactics to cause the closure of their care homes.

“Despite trying to initiate a more open and transparent consultation on the future of residential care homes, it appears that the Health Minister has still not been able to ensure a fair and proper process is in place. The Minister must put an end to these types of tactics.

“This latest development will create further fear and confusion among residents and their families.”
