Chris Lyttle MLA said: “With around 20,000 people in Northern Ireland being diagnosed with dementia and many more going undiagnosed, it is important that we are all able to talk and learn about dementia. The theme of the dementia awareness week is ‘talking changes everything’ as the more you know about something the more prepared you will be about it.
“We need to increase confidence in people to able to talk about dementia when they are worried about showing the early symptoms. By having timely access to information about dementia, we can help reassure those who are diagnosed as well as their families.
“I was privileged to support the Alzheimer’s Society message by hosting this event in Stormont and would like to pay tribute to the work of their staff and supporters.”
