The local Councillor has previously lobbied Roads Service on behalf of residents and said those living in the area would enjoy great benefits once the work was completed, including substantial noise reduction.
Councillor Laura McNamee said: “I welcome this scheme brought forward by Roads Service. This was a high priority for local residents and I previously lobbied Roads Service on their behalf.
“Residents had complained that the old concrete surface offered no shock absorption and they constantly experienced a great deal of noise, generated by heavy traffic coming from the nearby quarry early in the morning.
“This work is now nearing completion and residents have already reported they are benefitting from associated noise reduction. I am glad Roads Service listened to local concerns and took direct action.”
