Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The response by the Government Agencies to the recent flooding was an absolute shambles. We must ensure that we look to find out what went wrong and that these mistakes are not repeated.
“This special Committee meeting is a welcome opportunity for the Department to explain what happened. In this meeting I will be demanding answers from the Minister and his officials as to how they could be so unprepared and so overwhelmed by the heavy rainfall.
“I will be hoping to hold them to account over the damage caused to so many homes and businesses, most of whose owners are facing anxious waits over how long it will take to complete repair work. I am sure they will want answers from the Minister as well.”
