Kieran McCarthy said: “I was very worried by the contents of this report. All elderly members of our society deserve to be treated with dignity. I would expect all care homes to look after their residents with the highest level of respect.
“If any person mistreats a resident of a care home that I would hope that that person or the care home itself would face sanctions to ensure that it does not happen again.
“I know many dedicated care home staff members who go to great lengths to ensure that residents are given the highest level of care and I would hope that this report does not tarnish the reputation of those who do such a good job.”
