Chris Lyttle MLA said: “First and foremost my thoughts are with the families of victims and the survivors of the La Mon bombing. This was one of the most horrific and tragic incidents of the troubles.
“The victims and survivors deserve answers about events surrounding this terrible tragedy. The HET process has brought resolution to many families, but clearly it doesn’t provide answers in every case. We need a wider and more comprehensive process.
“My Alliance colleagues and I achieved cross party support for an Assembly motion calling for the Secretary of State to arrange party talks to deliver agreement on a comprehensive process for dealing with the past and Naomi Long MP has consistently highlighted the issue at Westminster.
“A comprehensive and coherent process is needed to help victims and survivors, which also helps us build a shared future for everyone in Northern Ireland. I hope that party talks happen quickly and that swift progress can be made on this most important of issues.”
