Victoria Alliance Councillor Laura McNamee said: “We facilitated a meeting between the Community Centre board, Council officials and local community development professionals to discuss how best to proceed in order to save this important facility.
“The purpose of the meeting was to consider all options that would help to keep the centre open, and the board confirmed its aim to work with the council and local representatives.”
Victoria Alliance Councillor Mervyn Jones said: “Progress on this was essential and I am very pleased that the board has agreed to work together with key stakeholders to provide a more sustainable business model in the best interests of the local community.
“We realise the centre has faced a number of challenges and there a needs to be a review practices, but we are confident that through partnership and vision this vital facility can remain open to the community and play a positive role in the life of the local area.”
