Stewart Dickson MLA elect said: “I am deeply concerned that the planned cut in air travel tax in Ireland could have a negative impact on air travel from Northern Ireland by impacting on competitiveness.
“Our air links are vitally important for business and to help us grow our economy.
“Any loss of air services from Northern Ireland will be very bad for tourism and bad for business. We will do all we can to protect services.
“Naomi Long MP has been lobbying strongly at Westminster level to have air passenger duty reduced in Northern Ireland. We will continue to take action to ensure competitiveness with Ireland’s airports.
“We also urgently need to address the impact of the VAT reductions in Ireland and their impact on tourism here.”
