Webb condemns North Belfast attack on police

North Belfast Alliance Representative Cllr Billy Webb has condemned and attack on the police which injured police officers and resulted in two officers being taken to hospital treatment. Officers sustained injuries when they were attacked by a crowd at Ballysillan Road shortly after 4.30pm yesterday.

Newtownabbey Councillor Billy Webb said: “This was a disgraceful incident and I want to send my best wishes to the officers hurt in the attack.

“The police should be able to go about their work protecting the community without having to face this type of situation. Violence has no place in our society and Northern Ireland is moving forward to the peaceful future that people want.

“Those who get involved in incidents like this should reflect on their actions and see they could be hurting their community by potentially diverting precious police resources from protecting the wider community.”
