Speaking on this selection, Stephen Farry stated:
“This coming election is set to be pivotal for Northern Ireland. Events in 2010 have clearly exposed the faultlines in the peace process. While tremendous progress has been made in recent years, the politics of division continue to undermine stability and good governance. We may have relative peace, but we do not have a reconciled society and a shared future.
“It is critical that the Alliance Party offers that clear alternative to the people of Northern Ireland of a normal, civic and shared society.
“In North Down, Alliance has a long and proud record of achievement. We will be contesting this election from a position of strength. We will offer the electorate both a clear and principled message and a track record of delivery.
“In the event that I am elected to Westminster, I would vacate my Assembly seat and allow North Down Association to nominate a replacement.”
