Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “The sad deaths of the three people who died after contracting swine flu in the past week has shown the devastating impact of this virus. With the flu season beginning, we must ensure that the Health Department has every resource that they require to combat swine flu.
“Now that the vaccination programme has begun, it is imperative that all who qualify get their vaccine. And I am glad that the Department has included all children in special schools after the outbreak in Foyleview School which resulted in the tragic deaths of two pupils.
“The Health Department has an enormous responsibility to prevent further deaths over the winter. They and every Government Agency must be vigilant against the signs of the virus to prevent outbreaks.”
