Disgraceful attacks mean other criminals are off the hook in Ballymena

Ballymena Alliance Representative Jayne Dunlop has demanded the end of the disgraceful campaign of attacks in Ballymena to ensure that police can implement their 12 month plan for the town. Her comments come after the Ballymena District Commander, Terry Shevlin, said that he had suspended the area’s 12 month policing plan to divert all resources into ending this campaign.

Jayne Dunlop said: “This is a dreadful but inevitable consequence of the recent attacks in Ballymena. I welcome the fact that police are making a concerted effort to stop this campaign of attacks.

“We need the Chief Constable to bring additional resources into the town to ensure that everyday policing is not affected. They must ensure that criminals do not have the run of the town in Ballymena.”

Jayne Dunlop concluded: “The security and protection of all of the people in the town must be paramount and I fully support the police in their efforts to tackle these problems.”
