Commenting on new figures released today which revealed a massive drop in farmers incomes in Northern Ireland compared to the rest of the UK, Alliance Agriculture and Rural Affairs spokesman, David Ford said
“This is a problem that must be faced up to. It is deeply upsetting that although Northern Ireland was relatively BSE free, traditional livestock farmers here have suffered more than in Great Britain.”
“Clearly there is a need for the Treasury to balance the needs of farmers across the UK in the light of these figures.”
“I am seeking a meeting with Lord Dubs to discuss this.”
