Newtownabbey Councillor Billy Webb said: “This is great news for the area and this progress is long overdue.
“Regeneration of this area has the potential to create many new jobs and provide a genuine boost to the community. It is expected that 250 construction jobs will come as a result of this, and when completed, 200 retail jobs will be created. This is particularly timely given the difficult circumstances the construction industry finds itself in. The retail jobs created will have a very positive knock-on effect for the local community, with more cash coming into the local economy and boosting businesses in the area.”
