On the day that grammar schools opened registration for unregulated selection tests Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has said that this unregulated system could have been avoided had the Minister and grammar schools accepted our earlier proposals. Alliance suggested temporary maintenance of a centrally set CCEA test based on the revised curriculum.
Trevor Lunn MLA said: “It’s a real pity that the Education Minister and the grammar schools did not accept our compromise.
“Children now face a potential myriad of tests in unfamiliar surroundings, as opposed to one standard exam set by CCEA, which we proposed on 24 March this year and which was accepted by the Assembly.”
