Alliance MLA John Blair has responded to a statement from the DAERA Minister, warning of the consequences of political stunts.

In calling out the “irresponsible” move, John said the action would only “disrupt an essential process for some of our crucial economic sectors, such as agriculture and agrifood”.

He added: “Any actions to stall completion of Brexit check posts would be at the whim of a Minister more focused on indulging his own political impulses than delivering for those his department aims to help.

“The Minister and the DUP would be much better placed standing with those trying to fix their Brexit mess – including backing an EU-UK Veterinary agreement which Alliance has been working to deliver as a way to ease the tensions within the current set up.”
