Seán Neeson MLA said: “This is a serious setback for the local economy in the areas where FG Wilson are based. While I understand that these measures are being taken in an effort to prevent redundancies being made, this announcement still represents a massive blow for the workforce there.
“The East Antrim area has had a particularly tough time with regard to recent developments at Nortel and Ryobi also.
“I would call on the relevant Ministers to ensure that every effort is made to assist workers affected by these temporary lay-offs. My thoughts are with the workers having to deal with this difficult situation.”
