Neeson pays tribute Cardinal Cahal Daly

Alliance MLA Seán Neeson, who was tutored by Cahal Daly at Queen’s University, has paid tribute to him and praised his role in the peace process. He also said he was deeply disappointed that the DUP leader Peter Robinson had taken so long to issue a statement following the passing of Cardinal Daly.

Seán Neeson MLA said: “Cahal Daly did so much to bring peace to Northern Ireland. He was a man of great integrity who played a massive and very positive role in public life here.

“Peter Robinson should have made a quick response on this very sad matter. Because he is the First Minister, and representing the whole community, I am deeply disappointed that it took so long for him to recognise the contribution that Cardinal Cahal Daly made to Northern Ireland.”
