Speaking in the Assembly Chamber, the East Antrim MLA stated: “All sides are at least agreed on one thing — that this week’s business has been handled appallingly.
“The timing of this debate is a nonsense. I learned about it at 5pm yesterday and I find it a totally unsatisfactory way to run any political institution. I, like many others, had already arranged meetings with constituents and with business organisations.
“This is a very important issue but we have not had the chance to debate it properly.
“I hope the Secretary of State takes note of the remarks made here today.”
