Muir pays tribute to “inspirational” Maglochlainn

Alliance Party Vice Chair Cllr Andrew Muir has paid tribute to PA Maglochlainn following his death from a long illness. PA was a leading gay rights activist, originally from Dungiven but later moved to South Belfast, and was President of the Northern Ireland Gay Rights Associations for 20 years.

Cllr Andrew Muir: “I knew PA for many years and was very saddened to learn of his death.

“He was an inspirational and determined campaigner for gay rights. The passion he demonstrated throughout his life motivated me to battle for a shared society inclusive of all regardless of sexual orientation. His tireless work and the respect that so many had for him will be his legacy.

“He showed a lot of courage and was very outspoken on the issues that mattered most to him. I hope that future generations will be inspired by him.”
