Alliance Councillor Peter McReynolds has said he is “humbled and grateful” as he prepares to take on the role of Belfast’s Deputy Lord Mayor.
Speaking ahead of the Council’s AGM, Peter said his primary focus would be to deliver a sustainable and liveable Belfast for all.
He added: “Becoming a Councillor three years ago opened my eyes to the important work being undertaken by Belfast City Council – but it also opened my mind to the potential we have to create a genuinely inclusive society and I look forward to working with everyone across the city to make this happen.
“Alliance has a strong record in delivering positive, progressive leadership at City Hall and I want to pay tribute to the outgoing Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor for their service over the last year and congratulate the new Lord Mayor on his appointment.
“Over the past few years I’ve shown my commitment to environmental issues and have worked hard to represent the people of Ormiston – a work ethic I now look forward to extending out across Belfast.
“I want to use the role to the best of my ability to create a bridge between the divided parts of our society and I look forward to working with groups and individuals across Belfast to achieve this.”
