Alliance Councillor Julian McGrath has said it is deeply worrying, after an investigation was launched into a care home in Glengormley following claims of a breach of coronavirus regulations.
The joint investigation into Glenabbey Manor has been started by the PSNI and Northern Health and Social Care Trust, with owners Runwood Homes saying they are fully co-operating with the investigation.
“The launching of this investigation is deeply worrying, for residents and their families,” said Glengormley Councillor Mr McGrath.
“However, only an investigation can find answers for those same people as to if the home breached the COVID regulations.
“My colleague John Blair MLA and I have worked closely with the families and some staff on a range of concerns they have, meeting with the Commissioner for Older People and presenting a portfolio of evidence to the Minister of Health.
“With the joint investigation now launched, it would be inappropriate to comment any further, however, tribute must be paid to those relatives and members of staff who have raised concerns, and I hope the investigation finds the answers needed to bring comfort to them.”
