Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “We need to take radical and strategic decisions to enable us to make the most of precious public money.
“This is a challenging time and we need to have a clear vision for how we can maintain top class health services whilst delivering even more efficiency.
“North-South sharing of services in areas like health is vital to help us deliver the highest standard of service while also ensuring value for money. We are seeing positive progress as regards Altnagelvin’s proposed radiotherapy centre and this is a template for cross-border co-operation on health. We need to be radical to help continue to meet people’s health needs, and North-South sharing of services is an area that we must look to in order to make the most of our budget.”
