Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has said a lot of questions remain unanswered following the publication of the interim report by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority in the pseudomonas outbreak at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Altnagelvin Hospital.
Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This report makes for a disturbing read. If things had been done differently then perhaps lives could have been saved.
“It has brought to the surface a number of important issues. I hope that all of these issues and recommendations in the report will be accepted.
“There are, however, a number of questions that remain unanswered as to what happened in these two outbreaks. This is just the interim report and I await to read another report that we are expecting on this issue.
“But the buck needs to stop with somebody. Responsibility must be taken for what has happened.”
