McCarthy deeply concerned by investigation into deaths at Northern Trust

Alliance Health spokesperson, Kieran McCarthy MLA, has expressed his concern after the deaths of 11 patients at the Northern Health Trust are under investigation, five of which were babies. They are among 20 cases where the Trust’s response was said to be below standard.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “I am deeply concerned that the deaths of 11 patients are being investigated. It is completely unacceptable that any patient would receive treatment that is below standard.

“This is an extremely serious matter. It is very important that these investigations discover the truth about the deaths of these patients. Whatever happens, it is important for the Health Minister to ensure that every patient receives the highest standards of care.

“This will undoubtedly be a difficult period for the families involved. I hope the Northern Trust is providing them with all the available information and giving them the support they will require.”
