McCarthy concerned at increase in waiting lists times

Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed his concern over the increase in waiting list times for outpatients. 50,000 people have been waiting for over 9 weeks, with half of these waiting over 13 weeks.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “These figures are deeply worrying. The length of time that some people are waiting is far too long. Working towards reducing waiting list times should be a priority for the Department of Health.

“The staff in our hospitals and health centres are some of the most hard working and dedicated staff and this information should not be used to criticise their contribution.

“We need to ensure that the level of front line staff is not cut or we risk facing even higher levels of waiting lists.”
