Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle has welcomed the latest step in a review into health and wellbeing support for prison officers.

Justice Minister Naomi Long has announced the appointment of psychologist Siobhan Keating and HR Director Gillian Robinson to undertake the review. It will provide a report to the Minister by the end of October.

“Prison officers, past and present, deserve the best health and wellbeing support possible, not least given the vital role they play in our society,” said Mr Lyttle.

“I welcome today’s move and know it is another important step towards improving the services available to prison officers.

“I look forward to the review reporting back to the Justice Minister and being able to give these workers the assistance they need and deserve.”
