Lyttle: Lessons must be learnt from Mersey Street disruption

Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle has said that while the completion of long over-due work on Mersey Street should be welcomed, lessons must be learnt over the unnecessary disruption caused to residents.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “This work will be a welcomed relief to residents as it will better protect them from future flooding, an issue that has caused serious problems in the past.

“What isn’t acceptable though is the long delays and unsatisfactory disruption that accompanied the process.

“NI Water and the Minister for Regional Development must ensure they do all they can to avoid this level of disruption in the future and have plans in place to properly compensate or accommodate those worst affected.”
