Chris Lyttle MLA said: “Recognising and serving the multiple and complex needs of victims of the Troubles is an extremely important task that must be carried out in a comprehensive and sensitive manner.
“I hope the Victims Forum will be a positive step towards improved delivery for victims and would wish the members well in their task, especially in relation to the difficult conversations they will have on dealing with the past. The fact that this victims forum will now meet should be viewed as a positive step in the right direction to ensuring that the needs and requirements of victims are well served.
“The work of the Victims Forum will not be easy but we must attempt to solve some of the problems that victims face. Saying that it is too difficult and so not doing anything at all is not an option.”
