The 71-year-old was assaulted on the Comber Greenway this afternoon (Friday) close to Barnett’s Road and Kings Road around 12.45pm. She was left badly shaken by the incident, which saw a male wearing a dark hoody pull the woman’s handbag from her, knocking her to the ground before running off in the direction of Knock Road.
“I am utterly shocked anyone could carry out such an incident, particularly against an elderly woman,” said Mr Lyttle.
“I hope the lady will be able to make a full recovery from the trauma she must have experienced. The assailant is clearly a dangerous individual who has no regard for the wellbeing of others.
“I would urge anybody with any information about this incident to contact the police.”
