Lyttle demands clarity from Minister on Education Maintenance Allowance

Alliance Employment and Learning Spokesperson Chris Lyttle MLA has called for the Minister to provide clarity over the future of EMA. It is going to be abolished in England and Wales, he said that people need to be made aware of the full implications of any changes to EMA.

East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle said: “Measures like EMA help allow people to continue in education and reach their potential. I have been campaigning for a coherent and joined-up strategy to be produced to assist young people as regards their future careers, based on the findings of the DEL Committee.

“The Minister needs to deliver clarity on the future of EMA. Ensuring young people are in education, employment or training is essential for their own good and also for the good of our whole economy.”
