Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has condemned the armed robbery of an off licence on the Upper Newtownards Road on Wednesday night. The man armed with a hand gun threatened staff before making off with a sum of money.
Chris Lyttle MLA said: “I am shocked and angry that the lives and well being of two members of staff in this shop were threatened by this robber.
“I hope that the members of staff caught up in this incident are able to quickly get over what must have been a traumatic ordeal.
“There have been a large number of robberies in East Belfast in the past year and I will be looking to the PSNI to ensure that resources are allocated to tackling this type of crime.
“I would urge anybody with any information about this robbery to contact the police. This man must be apprehended by the police quickly and brought before the courts.”
