Lyttle calls for greater support for cycling

Alliance Chair of the Assembly Group on Cycling, Chris Lyttle MLA, is encouraging the public to take up cycling ahead of bike week which will take place from 14 – 22 June. Chris was speaking as he took part in a bike ride with other politicians from Stormont to Belfast city centre.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “As part of Bike Week, I would encourage the public to take up cycling. It is a great way to stay active, and will help reduce congestion in our town and cities.

“There must be greater support for cycling in Northern Ireland from the Executive. We have seen a massive growth in cycling in recent years, however there must be improvements in the infrastructure such as cycle lanes.

“I was pleased to see so many people take part in this bike ride from Stormont to the city centre. I hope to work closely with them at the Assembly to deliver better services for cyclists.”
