Trevor Lunn MLA said: “”We need to get the ball rolling on re-developing the Maze site. The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society appears extremely keen to go ahead with plans to move their operation to the Maze, and this would be extremely welcome.
“Since the decision to scrap plans for a stadium at the Maze was made public, everything appears to have been put in the deep freeze. This is simply not acceptable. The people of Lisburn deserve a redeveloped Maze site as soon as possible.
“With every day that this site sits derelict, businesses in Lisburn are missing out on the benefits that a re-developed Maze site would bring.
“The RUAS needs to be given support and assistance by the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister to move their plans forward as soon as possible. It’s high time the Maze site was able to reach its full potential and that Lisburn was not left waiting any longer for this important re-development.”
