The Alliance MP called for the meeting, in the wake of a number of serious security alerts and shooting incidents in the East Belfast area in recent weeks.
Mrs Long said: “There is absolutely no justification for any violence, whether it is leaving pipebombs in the street or bringing guns into our communities. People should be able to live their lives free from the threat of violence. I want to seek reassurance from the Chief Constable that the PSNI is dedicating sufficient resources to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
“People need to be reassured the police are doing all they can to prevent these incidents in the first place and following up when they do happen to take those involved off the streets. Those who try to cause fear and disruption must not be allowed to undermine the positive work being done right across the community to create a shared and better future in East Belfast and Northern Ireland.
“Ensuring law and order is maintained is a crucial part of that, and I hope the Chief Constable will be able to provide reassurance about the work being carried out to stop those behind this violence.”
