Naomi Long MP said: “My thoughts go out to the staff who will be losing their jobs. This will be a stressful time for them and their families. This will be a blow to the local economy.
“Bombardier is one of the main employers in East Belfast and across the country. They have been a real success story in Northern Ireland and I know that they remain fully committed to their site in East Belfast despite this announcement.
“They have continued to invest in East Belfast and have taken on extra staff and apprentices in recent years.
“I hope that Bombardier will work with the Department for Employment and Learning to provide support and guidance to those staff members who will be made redundant. I will be in contact with local management to see what further action we can take to help Bombardier as they continue go forward in East Belfast.”
