Alliance Councillor for Castlereagh Michael Long has condemned an attack on an 83-year-old man in his home on the outskirts of east Belfast.
The attacker called at his door on Thursday carrying a bunch of newspapers then pushed his way into the house at Rosewood Park in Castlereagh.
He threatened to cut the pensioner’s throat before stealing his pension money from his pocket and searching the house.
Mr Long stated: “Once again, a Belfast pensioner has been subjected to a horrific and harrowing ordeal at the hands of a cowardly armed robber. These incidents appear to be on the increase, and I would ask the public to be vigilant, keep an eye out for their elderly neighbours and report any suspicious activity to the PSNI.”
