Lo shocked at South Belfast kidnap attempt

South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has expressed disgust at a kidnap attempt in South Belfast, in which a woman was taken but was released several hours later. Police have issued an appeal for information on the incident that took place on 24 November, where a woman was abducted from Dudley Street.

Anna Lo MLA said: “This is a very disturbing incident. Acts of this nature seem to be happening with depressing regularity in this region.

“It appears that a woman was abducted with a view to these thugs trying to extract a ransom from a relative who owns a business. To do something like this is despicable.

“All that can be done must be done to stop incidents like this. I would appeal to anyone with relevant information to call police immediately to ensure that no-one else has to go through an ordeal like this.”
