Anna Lo MLA said: “As Small and Medium sized Enterprises make up the majority of the Northern Ireland private sector, it was good to hear what Daniel Calleja Crespo, the EU special envoy on SMEs, had to say about promoting these businesses. He spoke of the need to make Europe as attractive as possible for international companies to invest it. He also stated that the SME sector is the real economy, comments I would agree with.
“He gave a commitment to investigate the impact of EU regulations on SMEs to determine if they could receive certain exemptions, something that would be very beneficial to local firms.
“He also spoke of the need to reduce the burden of regulations in general on businesses. I hope we will see agreement on these reforms that will cut red tape and paperwork.”
