Anna Lo MLA said: “I am sickened at news of this assault. Those behind this despicable attack must be caught and face the full rigours of the law. My thoughts are with the man who was attacked as this must have bee a very traumatic incident.
“This is an exciting time for the city with many tourists visiting and the Tall Ships event being staged here, so this type of attack is the last thing people want to hear about.
“I would appeal to anyone with information on this attack to get in contact with police immediately to assist them with their investigation.”
