Alliance Lurgan Councillor Peter Lavery has condemned those who left live ammunition near a children’s playground in the town.

PSNI officers made the discovery in the Kilwilkie area yesterday (Sunday). A further search today (Monday) found nothing else. The package has been taken for further forensic analysis.

“This was a troubling discovery, especially so close to a children’s play area, where it could have been found by anyone,” said Councillor Lavery.

“Those who want to drag us back to the past do not represent anyone in our local community and the fact they would leave such dangerous items near a play area only shows the contempt they have for local families.

“I would like to praise the police for their discovery of the package, as they have potentially saved lives. I would also urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
