Cllr Neil Kelly said: “I would like to pay tribute to work of the police following the success of this operation.
“I am however concerned to learn that human trafficking was either going on in Antrim and Randalstown or at least being organised from here. Many people would not think that it goes on in in Northern Ireland, let alone South Antrim. But it is a real crime and can only be stopped with the help of the public who can provide valuable information.
“We need to increase public awareness of this crime and I know the Police and Department of Justice are already doing a number of campaigns on human trafficking.
“I am also worried about the discovery of a handgun. This just shows the real dangers that those who are trafficked face.”
