Alliance Councillor Nick Mathison has said International Men’s Day allows time and space to acknowledge the ongoing issues impacting men and boys on a daily basis.
He added: “The past two years have been a tough time for many, and yet often the issues facing men can be overlooked – whether it is encouragement to talk, dealing with complex mental health issues or pressures from outside factors, we must do all we can to ensure the relevant support is in place.
“Today is about making sure no-one suffers in silence. So I would encourage anyone with pressing concerns, feeling anxious or just not feeling quite right, to speak to those around them or seek professional help.
“Together we can make a positive impact on the wellbeing of boys and men.”
